The recent "CodeRed" virus
attacks on several government ministries and departments have now
been contained, said energy, telecommunications and multimedia minister
Datuk Amar Leo Moggie said Thursday.
"They can be contained because they
are a normal occurence and what is important is for us to be cautious
at all times to ensure that our security system is not breached
in all networks," he told a press conference here when launching
the e-Sunway exhibition at Sunway Lagoon here.
Moggie was asked to comment on the
attacks which also affected the ministry of international trade
and industry. The "CodeRed" virus also attacked the White House
in the United States.
Moggie said the Malaysian Administration
Modernisation Planning Unit (Mampu) had been informed of the attacks
and it had provided recommendations on how to reduce the adverse
effects of the attacks.
